Group Workshop: Community Gardening & Mural Painting
/Saturday, March 20th early in the morning: Volunteers of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church community in Oakland as well as neighbors and students from the San Francisco Bay Area came to the community garden site to create a new garden with the employees of "WELCOME - a communal response to poverty" and to paint the planned mural with artists of CULTIVATIVE
The volunteers could help to scatter the fresh soil or to paint color areas on the mural as well as color-shades and details of the images with directions from experienced artists.
The group worked late into the afternoon to strengthen the community and to improve the quality of the neighborhood. The core group will be meeting regularly every Saturday from now on to plant and foster the garden.
For the mural this Saturday has been a major step. The artists of CULTIVATIVE complete the portraits and images with a few volunteers during the next week.
